Senator Dan Laughlin has announced the approval of funding for several projects in Erie County under the Act 13 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program. These projects aim to improve recreational spaces and protect natural resources in the area.
“I am thrilled to see these projects receive the funding they need,” said Laughlin. “These investments will enhance our quality of life, improve our recreational spaces and protect our natural resources in Erie County.”
Among the recipients, Asbury Woods is set to receive $64,384 for updating and expanding its trail network. The Edinboro Legion Pool will get $29,768 for renovations to maintain its role as a key community space. Pleasant Ridge Park will use $125,000 to build new pickleball courts, providing an opportunity for active lifestyles. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is awarded $113,082 to manage invasive species and preserve local ecosystems.
“These projects demonstrate our commitment to building vibrant, sustainable communities,” added Laughlin. “I’m grateful for the support of the Commonwealth Financing Authority in helping me to prioritize Erie County’s needs.”
The Act 13 program funds are sourced from impact fees collected from oil and gas producers in Pennsylvania. The Commonwealth Financing Authority distributes these funds as part of its role within the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
