On April 26, 2024, Rep. Jake Banta (R-Erie) expressed his appreciation for the allocation of over $1.5 million towards school safety and student mental health. The School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) under the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) approved $47 million in grants statewide to enhance safety, security, and mental health support for students and staff in Pennsylvania schools.

"I am glad to see the safety of our students and educational staff, as well as mental health initiatives, receive this significant funding," remarked Rep. Banta. "Protecting our children is essential to ensuring a Pennsylvania that moves forward."

The funding will benefit various public and non-public schools across the 4th legislative district, including Corry Area, Fort LeBoeuf, General McLane, Girard, North East, Northwest Tri-County, Northwestern, Union City Area, and Wattsburg Area. These funds aim to support the School Safety and Security Committee's objective of creating safe and healthy school environments for all Pennsylvania students by addressing basic safety needs and mental health services.

Rep. Jake Banta's advocacy for student safety and mental health underscores the importance of investing in resources that promote a conducive learning environment for the youth. This funding signifies a step towards prioritizing the well-being and security of students and educational staff across Pennsylvania.
