State Rep. Jake Banta | Pennsylvania 4th Legislative District
On February 13, 2024, Representative Jake Banta (R-Erie) announced that 24 fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in the 4th Legislative District will receive nearly $360,000 in state grants through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program. The grants were made available by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) within the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA).
"I am beyond grateful for our first responders and the continual sacrifices they make for our community," said Banta. "I am glad to see this funding go to our local fire and EMS services to allow them to better serve and protect Erie County."
The funding will be allocated to various fire and EMS companies in the 4th District. Some of the recipients include AF Dobler Hose Ladder Fire, Central Erie County Paramedic Association Inc., City of Corry Fire Department, Crescent Hose Company, Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department, Elgin Beaver Dam Hose Company, Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department, Fuller Hose Company No. 1, Greenfield Township Volunteer Fire Company, Lake City Fire Company, Platea Volunteer Fire Company Inc., Stancliff Hose Company, Union City Volunteer Fire Department, Wattsburg Hose Company, and West County Paramedic Association.
The OSFC manages financial assistance programs for the state's fire, ambulance, and rescue organizations, with the aim of improving and enhancing their abilities to provide firefighting, ambulance, and rescue services. In order to receive their grants and remain eligible for the program, fire and ambulance companies must submit their paperwork to the OSFC by the end of May.
This funding will undoubtedly strengthen the capabilities of these fire and EMS companies, allowing them to better serve and protect the residents of Erie County. With improved resources, these first responders will be able to continue their important work in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
Representative Banta's commitment to supporting and recognizing the invaluable contributions of our first responders is commendable. By securing these grants, he has demonstrated a dedication to the welfare of Erie County and the safety of its residents.
