Sen. Dan Laughlin (R-49) has announced that Erie County schools have been awarded almost $160,000 in grant funding through Pennsylvania's Career and Technical Education Supplemental Equipment Purchase Program. The funding will be used to acquire new training equipment for students.
"The nearly $75,000 granted to the Erie City School District and the nearly $85,000 granted to the Erie County Technical School will allow for the purchase of instructional equipment that will be used to prepare students for the workplace and a career," said Laughlin.
Laughlin emphasized the importance of career and technical education in providing students with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills. He stated, "The importance of career and technical education is that it not only teaches students about things, but how to do them as well; that translates into graduates who are employment-ready for a variety of great-paying, in-demand jobs when entering the workforce."
The grant funding will enable schools in Erie County to enhance their vocational training programs and better equip students for future employment opportunities. The investment in new instructional equipment will ensure that students have access to the latest industry-standard tools and technologies, giving them a competitive edge in the job market.
By providing students with hands-on experience and practical training, career and technical education programs play a crucial role in bridging the gap between education and the workforce. These programs equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in high-demand industries, offering them a pathway to well-paying and fulfilling careers.
