Gannon Women’s Basketball Competes in Puerto Rico after Free Throw-a-Thon Goal Met

Gannon’s women’s basketball team traveled to Puerto Rico this week for a two-game trip, thanks to the support they received from the annual Free Throw-a-Thon, helping them meet their goal of raising $35,000.

"We want to thank all the people who supported each of our players in this year's Free Throw-a-Thon," related Wright. "The generosity of our campus, community, family, and alumni was the key in helping us achieve our goal of $35,000! We are excited to have the funds for our team trip to San Juan where we will play two games and experience Puerto Rico together."

As of this writing, the total raised stood at $35,066 with a total of 374 donors. Those donors came from 26 different states and included 56 former Gannon women's basketball players. All told the Gannon women's basketball alumni donated over $6,000.

As for the number of free throws made, Gannon's players dropped in 1,275 free throws. That amounted to $27.50 every time a Golden Knight made one from what was truly the charity stripe.

Gannon will play UPR Rio Piedras on Wednesday, November 23 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. They will celebrate Thanksgiving with a game in Bayamon, Puerto Rico against UPR Bayamon.
