Assistant professors Matthew Gacura and Gary Vanderlaan from Gannon’s Biology department along with Xiaoxu Ji, assistant professor from the Biomedical, Industrial and Systems Engineering department, and Associate Dean of the School of Engineering and Computing, Davide Piovesan, were approved by the Deputy Secretary of Technology and Entrepreneurship Steve D’Ettorre, to be awarded up to $69,576 for the Manufacturing PA Innovation Program proposal titled “Mushroom Based 3D Printed Insulating Material,” and up to $69,502 for the proposal titled “A Human-Oriented Approach to the Lead Manufacturing of BSG 3D Printing Composite Materials.”
Over the last three years, Gannon has been granted funds totaling $396,041 for six projects including those above. Gannon representatives, students and industry partners have been invited to attend the PA Manufacturing Annual Meeting in Spring of 2023 in Harrisburg.
