Parkinson Partners collaborates with Gannon occupational therapy

In May, after 26 months, Parkinson Partners of NWPA’s collaboration with Gannon occupational therapy program returned: the in-person Purposeful Movement and Wellness Program. Twelve wellness participants attended the first session where 13 Gannon OT students provided one-on-one care, coaching and safety under the direction of Dr. Dave LeVan, OT and Tom Hudson, PT.

In June, the collaboration continued as OT students spent weeks with Purposeful Movement participants, helping them push themselves in a fun, safe way to get a great workout that also addressed specific challenges associated with Parkinson’s.

Occupational therapists help others achieve optimal participation in life’s occupations after experiencing disruption due to illness, injury or disability. Occupational therapists adapt to ever-changing environments, work collaboratively with our global community, serve as leaders in society, and contribute to the knowledge base of the profession. Gannon’s occupational therapy program will engage you in learning aspects of the evaluation, intervention and entire therapy process to secure your own purposeful career in occupational therapy.
