Edinboro University of Pennsylvania issued the following announcement on June 6.
Dr. Mary Paniccia Carden has been named interim dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Pennsylvania Western University, effective July 1.
She replaces Dr. Laura Delbrugge, who accepted a position at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Carden holds a B.A. in Speech Communication and English Writing from the State University of New York College at Geneseo and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
She joined the English faculty at Edinboro in 2002. She was appointed interim dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Business in January 2022 after serving as the chair of the Department of English and Philosophy for eight years. She has also taught at the State University of New York at Binghamton and at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Carden authored two books and co-edited a third. Her articles have appeared in 15 peer-reviewed journals, and she has published five book chapters together with many book reviews and other shorter invited pieces. A second co-edited collection of essays is under contract.
Dr. Carden has twice been named Edinboro University’s Scholar of the Year.
