Gannon University Athletics issued the following announcement on June 7.
-100% of students accepted to four-year colleges
Since 1892, Villa Maria Academy has been developing women of vision in spirit, mind, and body. The students that attend Villa are provided with an outstanding educational experience that prepares them for their future. On Sunday, June 5, 67 young women processed out of the back of the Warner Theatre wearing the beloved traditional white dress and gloves, and each carried a bouquet of red roses. The graduates had the honor of receiving their diplomas from The Most Rev. Bishop Lawrence T. Persico J.C.L., Interim President Dave Slomski and Vice President of Academics and Student Affairs William Pituch '01.
Graduates and their families and friends heard speeches from classmate Anna Skinner '22 and Honor Graduate Emma Sanders '22, recalling the memories from each year at Villa and how their time as classmates has bonded them together as sisters for life. Lilia Noonan '22 served as the mistress of ceremonies. This year’s class was joined by the Class of 1971 and Class of 1972, with the former celebrating their 51st anniversary of their graduation after not being able to celebrate last year because of COVID-19, and the latter celebrating their 50th anniversary.
Following the graduation ceremony, the traditional Commencement Ball took place at the Hagerty Family Events Center. The newly minted graduates enjoyed an evening of fun with their Villa sisters and families before heading out of the doors of VMA to begin their new journey as alumnae. The Prep & Villa Class of 2022 earned over $30 million in scholarships, which makes up an average of roughly $186,000 per student!
