Gannon University Athletics issued the following announcement on June 1.
Villa Maria Academy Baccalaureate Mass took place yesterday at St. Jude the Apostle Church. Each senior was accompanied by an alum, while family and friends filled the congregation. Baccalaureate serves as a final chance for seniors, their families, and the faculty and administration of Villa to come together and celebrate mass as a community. It is an opportunity for students to share their faith with friends and family and remember the wonderful times the Class of 2022 shared.
Villa Chaplain Fr. Mike DeMartinis presided, while Fr. Jason Feigh and Fr. John Detisch concelebrated. Following the conclusion of mass, Abby Gallo Lechner ‘98 addressed the young women and welcomed them into the Villa Maria Academy Alumni Association.
A memorable tradition at Baccalaureate is when an alum of the school pins each senior. Many were pinned by mothers and sisters who walked the same path when they attended Villa. Some students were pinned by grandmothers, aunts, teachers, coaches or friends who made a significant impact upon their lives. The evening was a wonderful example of our continued traditions and the strength of our sisterhood.
