Cathedral Preparatory School issued the following announcement on Mar. 2.
The Season of Lent has begun! Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy celebrated their weekly mass this morning in observance of Ash Wednesday. Fr. Jason Feigh led mass at Prep, while Fr. Mike DeMartinis led mass at Villa. Our brothers and sisters from Mother Teresa Academy joined the Prep Campus as well! The ashes used today came from blessed palms from Palm Sunday of the previous year to symbolize penance and repentance. This year’s observance returned to its original state after making alterations last year because of Covid-19. Many people will undertake various practices, prayers, and disciplines during Lent to grow in holiness and faith. Anyone, Catholic or not, can use the time of Lent to grow closer to God and to prepare to experience the joy of Easter on a deeper level. We hope everyone has a blessed Lenten season!
