Cathedral Preparatory School issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.
We know that this year has been anything but normal as our daily lives have had to be adjusted to maintain safety for ourselves and others. One tool that can help us keep a sense of normalcy in our lives, though, is the gift of Faith. As a key foundation of our school, this gift helps us see the light even within dark times. As the Season of Advent winds down and leads us into the Christmas Season (beginning on December 25 and lasting through January 10), we would like to inform you of a few ways that you can utilize the gift of Faith in your life to have the best Christmas that you can.
By looking at the Diocese of Erie website, you will find many ways to celebrate the upcoming Christmas season both in-person and virtually. The website provides various prayer resources that can be used personally and as a family. The website also provides information on how you can join in Mass to usher in the Christmas Season on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day throughout the City, County, and Diocese. Remember, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is still suspended, but we should make every attempt to honor the feast of the Nativity of the Lord and its season even if this is via livestream. Midnight Mass will also be televised live courtesy of WJET beginning at 11:30pm from St. Peter Cathedral. Advent/Christmas is also a time to encounter anew the Mercy of God. A great way to do is taking advantage of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Many Churches this week are offering Confession. Take advantage of that opportunity by calling the Church of your choice to check availability. All of this information can be found here: https://www.eriercd.org/christmas.html.
While this link addresses those of us who are of the Catholic Faith (all are always welcome to worship with us at any time), we encourage you to reach out to your Church, Worship Center, etc., to see what opportunities you may be able to take part in via livestream or in person as well. Again, if you are not part of any church or worship center, you are always welcome to worship with us.
Finally, our Faith as a Gift has undoubtedly brought us through a year like none other. Perhaps, as an individual or family, this is a good time to start a new tradition that honors the Birth of our Lord so that we can experience and give the Hope of Christ. In the meantime, know of our prayers for you, your families, and our community as we ask for Mary Queen of Prep/Our Lady of Victory’s intercession in this Season and every day to her Son, Jesus Christ, the Light of the World!
