Nearly $3 million in state funding has been allocated to Erie County communities for traffic signal upgrades, according to an announcement from Senator Dan Laughlin (R-49). The funds are provided through PennDOT’s Green Light-Go Program and are intended to improve safety, reduce congestion, and modernize key corridors in the region.
“Safe and efficient transportation infrastructure is essential for our economy and our quality of life,” said Senator Laughlin. “These investments will help move traffic more safely and efficiently, reduce backups, and support continued growth across Erie County.”
The Green Light-Go Program reimburses municipalities for projects that enhance the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Upgrades covered by the program include new signal equipment, reconstruction of traffic signals, and technology updates that enable signals to better respond to current traffic conditions.
“These projects reflect a strong partnership between the state and our local governments,” Senator Laughlin added. “By investing in smarter infrastructure today, we’re helping to prevent accidents, reduce delays, and make our roads work better for everyone who relies on them.”
Funding for these initiatives was approved as part of the FY 2025-26 state budget and is managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
