Senator Dan Laughlin, who represents Pennsylvania’s 49th Senatorial District, posted a series of updates in early April 2026 highlighting his engagement with local communities and support for education initiatives.
On April 7, Laughlin welcomed the Gannon University team back to the district after their recent victory, writing, “Welcome home, National Champions Gannon University! Way to make our community proud! “
The following day, he reported on visits within his district: “Out in the district today visiting Union City and Amity Township to take a closer look at projects that have applied for state funding. I always enjoy seeing these efforts firsthand and hearing directly from local leaders about how these investments can make a difference.”
On April 9, Laughlin reaffirmed his commitment to educational funding across the region: “Proud to stand up for our schools across the 49th District. From delivering critical funding in the past to continuing the fight today, I’ll always work to ensure our students, teachers, and families have the support they deserve.”
According to his official website, Laughlin has secured more than $3 million in state tax credits for Erie County organizations as well as $10 million for water infrastructure improvements and $13.4 million in federal broadband funding. He maintains offices both in Harrisburg and Erie to serve constituents throughout nearly all of Erie County—including the city of Erie and numerous townships and boroughs—and has prioritized employment generation, fiscal responsibility, business-friendly policies, government reform measures aimed at accessibility and accountability. Laughlin also serves as chair of the Senate Law and Justice Committee. His background includes growing up in Erie as the son of a decorated World War II veteran before building a career as a small business owner.
