Senator Dan Laughlin has recently shared several updates on social media regarding initiatives and developments in Erie County. His posts cover a range of topics from educational grants to new branding efforts for the city, as well as legislative measures addressing substance use disorders.
On May 20, 2025, Senator Laughlin announced significant funding for local education through a grant. He stated, “Big news for Erie County Technical School! A $400,000 Solar for Schools grant was awarded to help lower energy costs and invest in renewable energy. This is a win for students, sustainability, and taxpayers!” The grant aims to reduce energy expenses while promoting sustainable practices within the school community.
The following day, on May 21, 2025, Senator Laughlin expressed his enthusiasm about Erie’s new branding initiative. He tweeted, “Proud to see Visit Erie launch a fresh new brand for our great city. Erie truly is ‘The Good Life’ in every season!” This rebranding effort seeks to enhance the city’s image and attract more visitors throughout the year.
Later that same day, Senator Laughlin introduced new legislation targeting severe substance use disorders. In his tweet he explained, “I introduced legislation for court-ordered treatment for severe substance use disorder because inaction isn’t an option. The bill allows families and medical professionals to petition courts for involuntary treatment before crises occur.” This proposed measure aims to provide early intervention options through legal channels.
Erie County Technical School serves students by providing technical education programs aimed at equipping them with skills necessary for various trades and professions.
