U.S. Representative Mike Kelly has announced the start of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for students in Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District. This competition is designed to encourage middle and high school students to engage with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through the creation of software applications.

“The Congressional App Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for our young innovators to demonstrate their creativity and technical skills,” stated Rep. Kelly. “I am continually impressed by the talent and ingenuity of our students, and I look forward to seeing the innovative apps they develop this year.”

The challenge is open to all eligible students in Pennsylvania’s 16th District. The registration deadline is set for September 30, 2025, with submissions due by October 30, 2025. Students are encouraged to register early for updates and resources.

Participants must develop an original app on any platform—mobile, web, or desktop—and submit it along with a demonstration video and necessary documentation by the deadline.

The winning app will be showcased on the Congressional App Challenge website and displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building. Winners will also have an opportunity to attend the #HouseOfCode celebration in Washington, D.C., where they can present their work to Members of Congress and tech community members.
