On May 30, U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) accompanied President Donald J. Trump at a U.S. Steel facility in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. The visit marked the announcement of a new partnership between U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel, a Japanese-owned company.
The event followed a recent meeting where Rep. Kelly led a group of lawmakers to discuss with President Trump the significance of U.S. Steel and the American steel industry in Western Pennsylvania.
“During the meeting with President Trump, I emphasized the important role U.S. Steel and the American steel industry play in Western Pennsylvania,” stated Rep. Kelly. “On Friday, the President came to Pittsburgh with a clear message: U.S. Steel is here to stay.”
Rep. Kelly praised President Trump’s commitment to prioritizing American industry and workers, stating, “From day one, President Trump has put American industry and American workers first. This is a win for Pennsylvania and for America.”
At Friday’s event, Rep. Kelly also addressed steelworkers.
