U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) recently completed a busy August District Work Period, making stops in every county within Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District. Over five weeks, Kelly held nearly 100 meetings, site visits, and tours.
Kelly briefly returned to Washington, D.C., on August 8 to lead the U.S. House of Representatives during a pro forma session.
“I’ve always believed the best way to represent constituents is to meet them where they are and to hear directly from them in-person whenever we can,” said Rep. Kelly. “August is a busy month for us, traveling across the district and meeting with so many wonderful folks. I look forward to taking their messages back to Washington when we return in the coming days.”
Local news outlets covered some of his activities during this period. Reports included Kelly’s visit to Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company for the introduction of a new tanker truck, a stop at an independent living center in Meadville, participation in dedicating the Titusville Post Office after Edwin Drake—a dedication resulting from legislation authored by Kelly and signed into law in January 2025—and presentations such as the Community Champion Award to local residents Bill Bellis and Ken Laughlin.
Kelly also attended events like the grand opening of Mercer County State Bank’s new headquarters in Sandy Lake and spoke at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition meeting in Erie.
Mike Kelly has represented Pennsylvania’s 16th District since 2011 after succeeding Kathy Dahlkemper (https://www.congress.gov/member/mike-kelly/K000376). He was born in Pittsburgh in 1948 and currently resides in Butler. Kelly earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1970.
