Erie, Pa. — LECOM Health has inaugurated new facilities with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for an expansion at its Erie location. The new addition to the LECOM Medical Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion includes an emergency department, cardiac catheterization laboratory, medical/surgical unit, and intensive care unit.
The expansion covers 34,000 square feet, featuring an emergency department equipped with eight treatment rooms, two trauma rooms, and six rooms for behavioral health patients. A 3,160-square-foot catheterization laboratory is among the new facilities, featuring advanced imaging technology for heart procedures.
On the second floor, there’s a critical care unit with six private rooms alongside a medical/surgical suite offering 14 patient suites, including two that can be adapted for intensive care needs.
Danielle Hansen, D.O., Regional President of LECOM Health, stated, “This new facility has been crafted with consideration for the ultimate experience in patient care.” Highlighting the economic benefits, she added, “With this $50 million investment, we are proud to continue adding a significant economic footprint on our community.”
The event included guided tours of the new facilities. The emergency department is scheduled to officially open its doors on April 16.
