FOIA Request Sent to Erie County Regarding Public Records of FOIA Logs from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Erie County on October 7, 2024. The request pertains to public records of FOIA logs from the beginning of the year until the date of the request.

As a media organization, we at Erie County Times are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. In line with this commitment, we have requested access to these records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., preferably in an electronic format.

The specific fields requested in our inquiry include the requester’s name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion, as well as the status of each FOIA request.

We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue striving towards ensuring transparency in our local government’s operations and will update our readers with any developments regarding this request.
